How to use the plan
The 2017 Inter-Association Task Force, which includes NATA, calls for a venue-specific emergency action plan for each site, reviewed annually, plus coaches trained in first aid, CPR and AED use Sourced. This template follows the playbook's outline of that plan.
- Fill in one copy per site, with the parks department's on-call number and gate details.
- Name a person for every role on every game day. If a role holder is absent, the site supervisor reassigns it before the first game.
- Find the AED and time the walk from each field. The widely cited target is a shock within three minutes of collapse, so the AED needs to be within about a 90-second walk of every field Sourced.
- Copy the weather lines from your lightning and weather policy and your heat policy.
- Keep the plan in the medical binder at the check-in tent with blank incident reports, and give every coach and official a copy.
- Review it every year, and after any incident. We also recommend a walk-through of each site before the season, so every role holder has found the AED, the gate and the shelter at least once before they need them Estimate.
Why each line matters, and what the task force asks of youth leagues, is in the guide to the emergency action plan.
