New · The Coaches App

The ref logs the play. You put a name on it.

The Coaches App lives inside the free Flag50 app. The referee's live scoring feeds it, and you coach from it: real stats for your athletes, your playbook and roster on the sideline, and a coaching record that follows you season after season.

Stat attribution from the field

When the referee logs a scoring play, you or your team manager tap the athlete who made it. The stat lands on their profile, from the field, and you can add more than scores.

Scheme Finder

Team-level questions only, never per-child ratings. We rank offense and defense schemes to your roster and hand you the plays.

The interactive scheme finder loads in a moment. It ranks these 13 offensive and 7 defensive flag football schemes to your roster:

Coastal Quick-Game offense

Death by a thousand cuts. Short, timing-based throws that any team can complete. Win with rhythm, not raw speed.

Strong against soft zone, teams that rush hard and vacate the short middle. Weak against press man coverage that jams the timing at the line.

Flag50 Vertical Spread offense

Put four fast kids on the line and run past people. Simple concepts, maximum speed, take the top off.

Strong against man coverage, slower secondaries, aggressive blitz teams. Weak against disciplined deep zone (cover-3/4) that won't get beat over the top.

Trips Rhythm offense

Overload one side and read it high-to-low. A thinking QB with three targets always has an answer.

Strong against man coverage and single-high looks that can't match three-to-one. Weak against defenses that roll extra coverage to the trips side.

Option Power offense

Run-first with the QB as a weapon. Sweeps, boots, and keepers put a defender in conflict every snap.

Strong against over-pursuing defenses, teams that rush the QB undisciplined. Weak against fast contain defenders who set a hard edge and don't bite on fakes.

Bunch Pick offense

Stack and bunch releases create natural rubs. Free your best athlete off traffic without an obvious pick.

Strong against man coverage, which the stacks and crossers punish. Weak against zone defenses that don't chase the rubs and pass off cleanly.

Ball-Control Spread offense

Never turn it over, always move the chains. Built for young or new teams to feel success and stay on the field.

Strong against almost everything at the youngest ages; keeps the ball moving. Weak against aggressive man teams that can jump short routes for takeaways.

West Coast Timing offense

The pass is your run game. Layered short and intermediate routes on a rhythm the defense can't disrupt if you rep it.

Strong against zone teams and undisciplined rushers. Weak against press-man corners who disrupt the timing at the snap.

Flag50 Air Raid offense

Empty the backfield and throw it all over the yard. Five receivers, fast tempo, no huddle. Score in bunches.

Strong against any defense that can't cover five eligible receivers cleanly. Weak against quarterback pressure that arrives before the routes develop.

Triangle Bunch offense

Bunch everyone tight and let the traffic do the work. Triangle reads stress one defender three ways on every snap.

Strong against man coverage, which the bunch rubs punish repeatedly. Weak against zone teams that don't chase the rubs and simply pass receivers off.

Spread Option offense

Make them defend the QB run and the pass on the same snap. Sprint-outs, draws, and keepers put defenders in a bind.

Strong against over-aggressive rush teams that lose contain on the QB. Weak against fast contain defenders who set a hard edge and stay disciplined.

Smashmouth Spread offense

Run first, throw off the run. Sweeps and draws set up play-action shots. Wear them down, then hit the big one.

Strong against light, pass-focused defenses that give up the edge. Weak against disciplined edge contain and fast pursuit to the sweep.

Screen & Space offense

Get the ball to your athletes in space and let them work. Screens and quick-hitters turn short throws into long gains.

Strong against hard-rushing defenses you can use against themselves. Weak against fast, gap-sound defenses that swarm the catch point.

Pro Balanced offense

Do a little of everything so the defense can't cheat. Two-by-two looks that run and pass with equal threat.

Strong against defenses that key on one tendency and get punished for it. Weak against nothing glaring; it trades big-play upside for balance.

Cover-3 Cloud defense

Three deep, everyone else robs the short zones. You will never give up the long score. Make them earn every yard.

Strong against vertical and deep-shot offenses. Weak against patient quick-game that dinks underneath the zone.

Man Lock defense

Match up and travel. Every defender owns a body. Wins when your athletes are as good as theirs.

Strong against timing quick-game and rhythm passers who need clean windows. Weak against bunch/stack rubs and crossing concepts that create natural picks.

Zone Contain defense

Keep everything in front and set hard edges. Built to stop the run and the scrambling QB first.

Strong against run-heavy and QB-run offenses. Weak against four verticals and deep crossers that stretch zones thin.

Zero Blitz defense

Send the house, cover the rest one-on-one. High risk, high reward. Rattle the QB before the play develops.

Strong against slow-developing deep shots and indecisive QBs. Weak against quick slants and hot routes that beat the rush instantly.

Cover-2 Halves defense

Two safeties split the deep field, everyone else squeezes the middle. Take away the sideline shots and rally to the ball.

Strong against sideline verticals and corner routes. Weak against seam and deep-middle routes that split the two safeties.

Robber defense

One safety sits low and jumps the first crosser. Bait the QB into the throw, then take it away. A playmaker's defense.

Strong against crossing and rhythm passing offenses. Weak against double moves and play-action that use the robber's aggression against him.

QB Spy Contain defense

Assign one athlete to shadow the quarterback and set hard edges with the rest. Built specifically to cage a running QB.

Strong against QB-run and option offenses. Weak against pure passing spread that makes the spy defender a wasted man.

Coach FAQ

Quick answers on the 5v5 playbook, NFL FLAG rules, wristbands, and the AI play builder.

Is the Flag50 5v5 flag football playbook free?

Yes. The playbook browser, the scheme finder, and the print-ready wristband export are completely free and work offline, with no account required. The AI Play Builder is also free to use at launch.

What is 5v5 flag football?

Five-on-five is the format used by NFL FLAG and the 2028 Olympics: a quarterback, a center who snaps then releases, and three receivers. Flag50 ships coach-ready 5v5 plays across spread, trips, stack, and bunch formations, each with a diagram and a coaching point.

Can the quarterback run in 5v5 flag football?

Under NFL FLAG rules the quarterback cannot run past the line of scrimmage. The run game is a handoff or a jet sweep to a receiver, so the QB passes or hands off on every snap. The Flag50 5v5 plays are built around that rule.

What are the best 5v5 flag football plays?

Start with an easy completion like all curls, a blitz beater like quick slants, a man beater like mesh, a red-zone concept like smash, and a deep shot like triple verticals. The ranked list of the best 5v5 plays walks through each one with a diagram.

How do I make a flag football wristband?

Pick a scheme or hand-pick your plays into a call sheet, choose Youth or Adult size, and print. Cut, fold, and slot the strip into a QB wristband. Flag50 prints the exact color-coded diagrams onto the strip, so each player can find their route by color.

Can AI create 5v5 flag football plays?

Yes. Describe the play you want in plain English and Flag50 writes it as a legal 5v5 play, checks every position against NFL FLAG rules, and draws it up with the same engine that powers the playbook and wristband.

Coach in a league that still runs on paper? Flag50 scores it live, and the playbook comes with it.
