How to use the scorecard
No published retention benchmark exists for rec flag football. The targets on the scorecard are planning estimates for a seasonal rec league, such as 70 percent or more for ages 6 to 8 and an NPS of 50 or higher Estimate. The coach line matters most: in one study, teams with trained coaches lost 5 percent of their players and teams with untrained coaches lost 26 percent Sourced.
- Return rate by age band: last season's players in the band who registered again this season, divided by all of last season's players in that band. Set the bands to match your divisions.
- Lowest coach-level return rate: calculate the return rate for every coach's roster. The coach-level number is the one you can act on, so share it privately with each coach.
- NPS: from the 0 to 10 "would you recommend" question in your end-of-season survey, sent within 48 hours of the final game.
- Referral share: new families who named a referral at registration, divided by all new families.
- Mid-season departures: families who left during the season, with the reason for each.
Fill it in after the post-season survey closes and before your returning-family registration window opens. What moves each number (coaching, the season moments, the weekly email, referral credits) is in how to get families to come back. Documented season-over-season retention above 70 percent is also one of the value drivers in the league budget. Flag50 live scoring puts the score and standings in every family's pocket all season.
