Triple Verticals
Three receivers run past everyone and the quarterback throws the single-covered vertical.
When you have speed and a quarterback who can throw it, the deep shot is the fastest way to score. These plays stretch the defense vertically, clear out underneath, and create the one-on-one matchup you want down the field.
Three receivers run past everyone and the quarterback throws the single-covered vertical.
The go route pulls the safety and the dig replaces underneath for a big gain over the middle.
The stacked post and corner cross so the pick frees one receiver deep every time.
The go clears the top and the corner route becomes your deep shot into the vacated space.
Triple verticals is the go-to deep shot. Three receivers stress the defense vertically, and if they run full speed the quarterback throws the one that wins one-on-one.
Use a clear-out. Send one receiver deep to pull the safety, then throw the shot to the receiver he leaves. Take deep shots on early downs so the defense is not expecting them.
Less often. Deep shots need receivers who can separate. If your team lacks speed, use ball-control and screen concepts instead and save the deep shot for one surprise per game.
Pick the plays that fit your team and print them onto a wristband, or describe your own play in plain English and let Flag50 draw it up. It is all free.
