A club is a selection-based travel program. Players try out, make a roster, and compete in tournaments against other clubs, often year-round and out of state. That is different from a rec league in West Sayville, where anyone can sign up and every game is local.

Most clubs field teams from 8U through high school, and 10U is where the majority of players make the jump from rec to club. Younger divisions exist in the deepest markets. Each club lists the age groups it carries.
