How A Friday Runs

The Rundown

One park, one night, every division. Here is what a Friday at Rancho Bernardo Community Park actually looks like.

5:10 PM

First Kick

The youngest divisions open the night while the sun is still up. Field supervisors are already on site, fields are lined, and every game has a paid referee.

All Night

Games Every 50 Minutes

Games run about 45–50 minutes and roll straight through the evening. Younger divisions play earlier, older divisions play later, so families with multiple athletes can stack their night.

Live

Scores As They Happen

Every field is scored live on Flag50. Standings update in real time, so grandparents in another time zone see the same scoreboard as the parent on the sideline.

Under The Lights

The Late Games

The lights come on and the older divisions close the night out. That is the whole point of the name: the Friday night stage, for every grade.

Rancho Bernardo Community Park

One Park. Every Friday.

Every FNL game is played at Rancho Bernardo Community Park in San Diego. Fields are lined and supervised, referees are paid, and the whole league is in one place, so families with athletes in different divisions spend their Friday on one set of bleachers instead of driving across the county.

The Holiday Bowl

Year Round

Skills Camps & Clinics

Camps and clinics run between seasons for athletes who want reps outside of Friday nights: route running, quarterback work, and flag-pulling fundamentals with FNL coaches.

What Comes Next

The Tackle Pathway

Plenty of FNL athletes go on to play tackle in the fall or at their high school. These are the North County programs our families feed into.

Stronger Together

Our Sponsors

Local businesses are the reason registration stays where it is. Please patronize them, and thank them for supporting North San Diego youth flag football.

$275

Per team sponsorship

Every team secures a sponsor instead of the league raising registration fees. FNL is a nonprofit and provides sponsors a Tax ID for a 100% tax deduction. If no business steps up, the team's families can split it, roughly $30–$35 each.

Good To Know

Parent Questions

Where and when are the games?

Games are played at Rancho Bernardo Community Park. The majority are on Friday nights, with occasional other days for conflicts or weather. In general, younger divisions play earlier and older divisions play later. Fall 2026 kickoffs run 5:10, 6:00, 6:50, 7:40 and 8:30 PM. Games run about 45–50 minutes. Coaches can submit requests before the schedule is released.

How much does it cost?

The FNL registration fee is $325.

What's included with registration?

FNL shorts and a jersey for every player, flags and balls provided to each coach, and a set of team and individual pictures (you must be present on picture night to receive them). Registration also covers eight regular-season games plus single-elimination playoffs for every team.

What equipment does my athlete need?

Cleats and a mouth guard. FNL shorts and a jersey are included in the registration fee.

Can I volunteer to be a head or assistant coach?

Yes. Youth sports would not exist without volunteer coaches. Email [email protected] with "FNL Head Coach" in the subject line. You can also volunteer while registering your child online.

Can I request to play with a friend?

We do our best to accommodate buddy requests, but they can't be guaranteed. Groups of three or more friends must have a parent willing to be the head coach. Enter requests in the "Buddy Request" box during online registration.
